South Coast Holiday House. Martha Was Here

We just returned from a week on the NSW South Coast.  In one of the Best. Family. Holiday. Houses. Ever.

Warrane is pretty as a picture, so if you love French provincial style, shabby chic interiors, manicured hedges and white washed Martha Stewart-esque verandahs… you need to check it out.

BB3

Firstly, it’s located in a private rural setting, yet close to beaches and the township of Batemans Bay. It’s on the highway, but it’s whisper quiet. It has been renovated and decorated with care and style, yet still feels relaxed and comfortable. There are games rooms, media rooms, pool, guest house, herb garden and so so much more.

The property includes 4 bedrooms in the main house, plus a guest house with 3 bedrooms. Perfect for our family setup of 6 adults, 1 Teenager, 3 Kiddos and 1 Baby.

It also has its own picturesque jetty on a river a short walk away.  The canoe-ists in our group loved this, however I am not one of these enthusiasts, hence no photos. So you’ll just have to take my word for it.

The house had everything imaginable to occupy the very young, the young at heart and everyone in between. And the perfect balance between country and coastal vibe.

BB1

There were rainbows, cricket matches, skinny dips (nope not I, just The Kiddos), one hospital trip (nut allergy thanks to a rogue pine nut in the Christmas Cake), no family arguments (who had time?!), days spent frolicking in the sun at the beach, lots of lazing and splashing by the pool, water pistols and balloons, several minor sunburns, stacks of food, a trip to the carnival, day trips to surrounding areas…

But definately no boredom.

Only happy memories.

Stunning property Kate, i love the serene french provincial decor. The South Coast which was once overlooked by the North Coast is full of hidden gems. We are so lucky that we can visit these places and not travel to far, especially with kids in tow.

If you also like the retro 1950’s beach house vibe, the south coast features lovely little comfortable houses. We stayed in one at Culburra over the break, my fantasy house for the year. Check out “Gidget goes to Culburra”, its hot pink!

….and on the way back to Sydney, take a detour to Thirroul and visit my new favourite homewares store, Nest Emporium…an endless range of Indian block print linen and table cloths, so handy for covering up those vegemite stains on the couch,
